Ustad Khan Gul, a teacher at Majboorabad High School, was severely injured in the recent suicide attack at Kabul bank in Nangarhar. He is the father of 7 daughters and youngest of all a son. On the day of attack, he went to pick his salary up from the bank to pay the rent for his house and buy food for home. Little did he know that he would lose one leg, severely injure the other and get half of his body burnt.
Injured and bed bound as the main bread winner, Khan Gul’s family was devastated thinking about the rent, food and healthcare costs.
With the help of British Afghans, Afghana Foundation reached out to Gul Khan and his family. After extensive consultation with the family and according to Afghana Foundation’s policy to teach catching a fish rather than feeding one, Afghana Foundation bought and donated a Rickshaw for the family which will be driven by the youngest son to earn a decent, halal and sustainable livelihood. The Rickshaw will allow the young son to continue education as well as work after school to earn for the family.
The Rickshaw was handed over to the family by Afghana Foundation, eastern Afghanistan head Mr Hilal along with the acting governor of Nangarhar.
