LONDON: The young British Afghan lawyer Ruqeia Ahmadi leads the Afghan Council of Great Britain and the World Afghan Congress’s legal and women affairs committees.

The young and proactive lawyer is part of the council’s leadership to inform strategy, campaigns and programs to put the community’s legal and women’s issues at the forefront of the organisation, community and the country.

Speaking to Afghan Diaspora Magazine about Miss Ahmadi, Mr Salim Khan Durrani, advisory board member of the Afghan Council of Great Britain said.

Our community needs a new generation of leaders. Young leaders who understand what it means to be British as well as being of Afghan origin. The challenges our youth face with identity. The legal rights of citizens and our community. And someone that is highly educated in Britain and that the community can be proud of to represent us at the highest national and global level. Miss Ahmadi has all those attributes.

Ruqeia Ahmadi comes from a strong academic and professional background in Law. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from University of Sheffield, School of Law, and also a Master of Laws (LLM) in Legal Practice from BPP University, and was awarded the Sheffield Graduate Award for her outstanding achievements.
